PLASTO NEODYMIUM BONDED MAGNETS
Plasto-neodymium bonded magnets get their name from the fact that their compositions include plastic or rubber materials, which act as binders in place of common ceramic materials, together with rare earths (neodymium).
Whether produced by extrusion, injection or compression-molding, these magnets are extremely ductile, rendering them particularly adaptable wherever modulation into various shapes or elasticity is required in addition to normal magnetic characteristics. The relatively reduced cost of the equipment for producing large series has facilitated the diffusion of plasto-neodymium magnets in the automotive and household appliance sectors, where large numbers and cost containment requirements go hand in hand.
Bonded magnets with rare earth find their main field of application in small brushless motors, where the possibility of producing multi-polar rings with relative ease allows for quick and cheap assembly, as well as acceptable performance, with respect to that offered by classic ceramic-based rare earth magnets.
